Lo Boob Oscillator Review NME Oct 16 1993

‘Lo Boob Oscillator’ was reviewed by Johnny Dee in the Singles section of the NME October 16 1993 issue.

I’ve transcribed the review –

STEREOLAB: Lo Boob Oscillator
(Sub Pop)

Mad as otters. If ever a record deserved a video made by Hanna Barbera it’s this. Sung in French, echoing the sticky sweet sound of ’60s teenie Euro Pop, it’s the daftest song to emerge from “The Groop” habitat yet. ‘Lo Boob’ bubbles along like a stupid silly thing, full of rinky-dink strumming, low-fi gimmickry – handclaps, strange bloopy noises – and Laetitia’s Nico-flat demure tones, before rattling away into the ether like a bicycle with balloons tied to the handlebars and buckled back wheel. Trashy, disposable, and it will make you very happy indeed.
